The British countryside was once full of meadows bursting with a variety of flowering plants, supporting butterflies, insects, farmland birds and other wildlife, but since the 1930s we have lost over 97% of what are called ‘unimproved grasslands’.
However wildflower gardens and meadows are something you yourself can easily create, and here at Agrifactors we have helped to decrease this percentage in the Weald to 80% – by introducing our local provenance Weald Native Origin Seed harvested within the Weald at our yard in Heathfield, to meadows created by landowners in the Weald.
